KUALA LUMPUR, July 29 2020: PKR is demanding RM10 million from each of its 20 former members of parliament and assemblymen who recently defected from the party.
PKR treasury-general Lee Chean Chung said in a statement today that the party has instructed its lawyers to issue letters of demand for the sum as compensation.
“The letters of demand require them to pay the sum not later than seven days. If they fail to pay in the time and manner stipulated, the party has instructed its lawyers to commence the appropriate proceedings against them to recover the compensation demanded,” said Lee.
The members of parliament who were to be issued with the letters of demand were Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali (Gombak) , Zuraida Kamaruddin (Ampang), Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah (Indera Mahkota), Datuk Kamaruddin Jaffar (Bandar Tun Razak), Datuk Mansor Othman (Nibong Tebal) , Datuk Rashid Hasnon (Batu Pahat), Datuk Seri Dr Santhara Kumar (Segamat), Ali Biju (Saratok), Jonathan Yasin (Ranau), and Baru Bian (Selangau).
Assemblymen who were also to be issued with the letter of demand were Dr Chong Fat Full (Pemanis), Datuk Muhammad Jailani Khamis (Rembia), Datuk Abdul Yunus Jamahri (Kuala Krau), Muhammad Hilman Bin Idham (Gombak Setia), Azman Nasrudin (Lunas), Dr Robert Ling Kui Ee (Sidam), Haniza Mohamed Talha (Lembah Jaya), Daroyah Alwi (Sementa) and Zulkifli Ibrahim (Sungai Aceh).
The former PKR members of parliament and assemblymen had pledged allegiance to the ruling Perikatan Nasional government after quitting the party .
