PUTRAJAYA – Aug 5, 2020: The National Security Council has released a list of public spaces where the wearing of face mask is mandatory following complaints on the lack of clarity on this requirement.

The areas are all places of worship, social gatherings, public transportation, school buses and vans; the zoo, sports and recreational centres; hospitals and clinics, public markets, cinemas and live events; salons, beauty parlours, wellness spas and entertainment centres.

Included are retail establishments such as convenience stores, laundromats, restaurants, supermarkets, workshops, gas stations and shopping malls.

The mandatory face mask rule was imposed from August 1.

Recently Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob clarified that a mask is not required when one is at home, doing physical workout or anywhere in the open where there is no crowd.

Children under the age of two are also exempted.
