KUALA LUMPUR — May 11, 2020: Umno president Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi has spoken out against party members who demand to be given government positions.

He even goes further to indicate that the reminder is especially directed at some main players in the party.

On the contrary he maintains that party members should accept the reality that Umno is not the dominant party in the Perikatan Nasional coalition and that it is now only a part of the government.

“We shouldn’t blame those making the decisions or put a burden on their shoulders that we must pressure them to get what we should have.

“I think there must be willpower at the bottom, ” he said in an interview coinciding with the Umno’s 74th anniversary today.

Umno with PAS and Gabungan Perikatan Sarawak (GPS) formed Perikatan with Pribumi Bersatu and several PKR lawmakers who left or were sacked from their party in February.

Zahid also said Umno is ready for negotiations to determine the future of its position in Perikatan.
