KUALA LUMPUR — June 1, 2020: Umno president Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi has denied the claim that he had showed documents of his ongoing trial to Tun Dr, Mahathir Mohamad at a political meeting in February.

Zahid wrote at his Facebook page that he had instead presented Mahathir with statutory declarations as the president of Umno.

Referring to a photo of the meeting that had gone viral on social media, Zahid said the various party leaders at the meeting had proposed for Mahathir to create a unity government without the DAP, PKR and Amanah.

The proposal was retracted when Mahathir counter proposed a unity that included the three parties.

Zahid clarified that it was out of line for personal matters to be discussed at a meeting that was focusing on a change of government.

The photo showed Mahathir with Zahid, Pribumi Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, Warisan president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal, former PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali and Gabungan Parti Sarawak leaders Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Openg and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.
