PUTRAJAYA, July 2 2018 : Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has arrived at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters here to give a statement to assist investigations into two cases.
Zahid, who is the former deputy prime minister, arrived in a black Toyota Vellfire vehicle at 9.50 am.
He smiled and waved at reporters and immediately entered the MACC headquarters.
Scores of reporters from the local and international media had been waiting since 8 am in the compound of the MACC headquarters for his arrival.
The MACC had contacted Zahid on June 27 and asked him to come to the MACC headquarters to give a statement under the MACC Act 2009.
MACC deputy chief commissioner (operations) Datuk Seri Azam Baki said Zahid was required to assist the investigations into two cases. He declined to elaborate on the cases.
Zahid said yesterday his statement was pertaining to the use of funds from a foundation he had set up.
Zahid is the next important individual to give a statement to the MACC after former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his wife Datuk Seri Rosmah Mansor, who had given statements in relation to an investigation into 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB). – Bernama
