PUTRAJAYA — August 29, 2016: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi has asked his predecessor to prove with evidence his claim that the prime minister had close to RM1 billion in his bank account.

He also slammed Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin for making baseless statements from hearsay.

“Ask him to produce the evidence if he has it. He accused our prime minister, so he must show the evidence.

“Don’t make allegations based on hearsay,” he said when asked to comment on a report that Muhyiddin claimed close to RM1 billion was already in Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s bank account even before the donation from Saudi Arabia surfaced.

According to the report, Muhiyiddin said he knew about Najib’s account from former attorney-general Tan Sri
Abdul Gani Patail.

Zahid met reporters after a bilateral security cooperation meeting with his Thai counterpart here today.

On the recent Court of Appeal’s decision today on Bersih 4, Zahid, who is also home minister, said the decision should be respected.

The court ruled that the minister’s order to ban the use of Bersih 4 T-shirts and pamphlets related to the Bersih rally was unreasonable and incorrect. — Bernama
