Zahid case: Prosecution wants him cited for contempt

Zahid's lawyers asked for a day's postponement purportedly for a meeting which never took place.

KUALA LUMPUR — March 2, 2020: The prosecution has applied to start contempt proceedings against Umno president and former deputy [rime minister Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi after his lawyer had applied for a postponement today purportedly to allow Zahid to meet the prime minister for a discussion.

The court summoned both parties this evening after the PM’s Office issued a statement clarifying that there was no such meeting scheduled for today.  

Prosecutor Datuk Raja Rozela Raja Toran told Justice Collin Lawrence  Sequerah the prosecution made the application following this. Sequerah will make a decision tomorrow when the trial resumes.

Zahid is facing multiple charges for corruption, CBT and money laundering involving millions of ringgit belonging to Yayasan Akalbudi.
