KUALA LUMPUR — July 27, 2020: A company director related today about a contribution of RM6.6 million to a foundation belonging to former deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to secure a job.

The contribution was also an introduction between Ng Hong Sion of MTM Network Sdn. Bhd. and Zahid.

Zahid is being tried on several counts for alleged corruption, criminal breach of trust and money laundering involving money belonging to Yayasan Akalbudi.

According to Ng, he had asked a friend to introduce him to one Datuk Ruzi who was said to be a strongman in Bagan Datuk, Zahid’s parliamentary constituency, and was also close to Zahid.

Ng claimed to have been told that Ruzi could introduce him to Zahid but there must first be a contribution to the foundation.

Later he went to Zahid’s house with Ruzi and was introduced to Zahud who thanked him for donating RM3 million. Ng also claimed that Zahid told him to contact Ruzi for any other dealings, with the latter saying the businessman could get bigger jobs if he contributed more to the foundation.

The businessman testified that despite the contribution he never did get any project but agreed with lawyer Datuk Ahmad Zaidi Zainal that it was Ruzi who spoke about the awarding of projects.

The trial before Justice Collin Lawrence Sequerah continues tomorrow.
