BUKIT MERTAJAM — Feb. 21, 2018: A sexagenarian was today charged here with the murder of her Indonesian maid earlier this month.
M.A. Ambika, 60, was charged with killing Adelina Lisao at her home in Taman Kota Permai 2 on February 10.
The court set April 19 for mention, pending submission of chemistry, post-mortem and forensic reports.
In the same court, Ambika’s daughter R. Jayavartiny, 32, was charged with employing an illegal immigrant (Adelina). The saleswoman pleaded not guilty although aware that Adelina did not have a valid permit. .
Press reports said Adelina, who had sustained serious injuries on her body, died while being treated the hospital on Feb. 11.
She was rescued from her employer’s home after it was reported that she was physically abused and forced to sleep in the porch with a Rottweiler.
The court set bail at RM15,000 in one surety.
The payment was made through the Indonesian consul-general in Penang on February 13. — Bernama
