Vinales wins for Yamaha at Malaysia MotoGP

SEPANG, Nov 3 2019 : Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP’s Maverick Vinales produced a flawless performance to take victory at the 2019 Shell Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix (MotoGP) at the Sepang Inetrnational Circuit here today.

The Spaniard clocked 40 minutes 14.632 seconds to give Yamaha their first Sepang victory since 2010.

The 24-year-old dominated the 5.543km circuit from the outset, breaking through the pack and taking the lead from the early stages after starting second on the grid.

2019 world champion Marc Marquez, representing Repsol Honda Team, finished second with a time of 40:17.691s while Italian Andrea Dovizioso of Ducati Team came in 5.611s behind for third place.

“It was an amazing race today. We are improving day by day. I really enjoyed the race today.

“I was trying to find the victory and have a chance…I did it,” he said.

The stunning performance has set Vinales and Yamaha up for a phenomenal end to the 2019 campaign in Valencia.

Meanwhile, Marquez notched up another MotoGP record as the most points scored in a premier class season. 

The Spaniard has accumulated 395 points after 18 rounds of the season with 11 wins, surpassing Jorge Lorenzo’s premier class points record of 383.

He has recorded 17 podiums, 11 of them wins, and just one Do Not Finish (DNF).

Valencia GP, the last round of the season, would be held from Nov 15-17. – Bernama
