KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 29 2018 : Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said today it is up to the Selangor government if it wants to acquire the developer’s land now occupied by the Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman  Temple in USJ 25, Subang Jaya, near here.

The Prime Minister reminded, however, that the matter of the land is bound by a court decision.

“We are still bound by the decision of the court. If the state government wants to do it, it has to take action to do it if it can … take back the land,” he said at a press conference at the Parliament lobby.

It was reported yesterday that there is talk that the Selangor government wants to acquire the land and hand it over to the temple.

Asked whether the federal government will want to acquire the land, Dr Mahathir said: “No, this is a state matter. Land is a state matter. We have no right. We have the right only with regard to the riots,” he said. – Bernama
