Umno’s Noh Omar resigns as MISC chairman — less than 3 weeks after appointment

KUALA LUMPUR — June 18, 2020: Former minister and Tanjung Karang MP Tan Sri Noh Omar has resigned as MISC Berhad chairman effective yesterday — short of three weeks after his appointment on June 1.

A company statement today said Noh made the decision after discussing it with Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Noh was appointed to succeed Datuk Ab. Halim Mohyiddin.

He was entrepreneur and cooperative development minister from 2008 to 2009, agriculture and agro-based industry minister to 2013 and was Selangor Federal Action Council chairman from 2014 to 2016 before returning being appointed urban wellbeing, housing and local government minister from 2016 to 2018.

MISC, which is 57.56 per cent owned by Petronas, provides energy-related maritime solutions and services.
