ALOR GAJAH, April 30 2016 : Umno supreme council members have the right to express their views by submitting a motion to sack Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir from the party at the council’s next meeting.

Umno executive secretary Datuk Ab Rauf Yusoh said this stand was in line with the council members’ respect for Umno’s leadership, which had endured various allegations and slander in attempts by certain quarters to undermine the party’s reputation.

“For example, Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz has the right to express his views as a council member. Whatever he (Nazri) plans to bring up, no one can stop him.

“If there are other council members who want to submit a similar proposal, we will look at the decision which will be made at the next council meeting,” he told reporters after handing out the Masjid Tanah parliamentary constituency welfare aid in Kampung Pulau, here, today.

He was commenting on a statement yesterday by Nazri, who said he intended to submit a proposal for the dismissal of Muhyiddin and Mukhriz from Umno at the party’s supreme council meeting scheduled to be held after the 11th Sarawak state election.

Earlier, he accompanied the Yang Dipertua Melaka Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob and popular artiste Datuk Siti Nurhaliza to hand out food items and health equipment to 60 orphans, senior citizens and the less fortunate in the constituency.

Ab Rauf said all quarters, especially Umno members, were urged to respect the Umno institution at all levels of leadership, including the party president and members of the Supreme Council.

“In whatever crisis which befalls Umno, members should place their loyalty with the party and its leadership,” he said.

Meanwhile, Rauf, who is also Masjid Tanah Umno division chief, said the contributions today were aimed at easing the burden of the people, as well as in preparation for the fasting month in June.

He said this was one of the many charitable activities often carried out by the Masjid Tanah UMNO division ahead of Ramadan, considered a welfare month for the party. – Bernama
