IPOH — Sept. 12, 2019: Two Perak DAP committee members have resigned with immediate effect, citing dissatisfaction over the leadership of state party chairman Nga Kor Ming.
They are Leong Cheok Keng, the deputy treasurer, and Leow Thye Yih, the assistant organising secretary.
They claimed at a press conference that Nga had discussed the position of state executive councillor Paul Yong Choo Kiong at the Pakatan Harapan level without first referring it to the party.
Yong, the assemblyman for Tronoh, is on leave as a state exco pending a court case in which he is accused of raping his domestic maid in July.
Leong, who is a counsel for Yong, said he felt the position of a state exco should first be discussed at the party’s state level because the appointment is on the recommendation of the state committee.
However Leong, who is assemblyman for Malim Nawar, maintained that he and Leow, the assemblyman for Pokok Assam, remain loyal to the party, adding that their decision was only in support of Yong. — Bernama
