PUTRAJAYA — Feb. 6, 2018: Two inspectors from the federal police commercial crime investigation department have been remanded for three days in a suspected bribery case.
According to a source with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), the inspectors were arrested in Petaling Jaya yesterday, during which the agency seized RM15,000 from them.
Both officers were suspected of soliciting RM40,000 from an individual so that he would not be arrested in connection with an investment case being investigated.
In Johor, an assistant environmental health officer with the Segamat Municipal Council was detained today on suspicion of receiving a bribe of RM5,000.
Initial investigations showed that the man was believed to have received the bribe from a manager of a programme and event management company in return for support given to his application to organise an event.
