KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 3 2018 : Prominent TV personality and emcee Datuk Mahadzir Lokman passed away early this morning.
The Star Online reported that Mahadzir was at a hotel in Kota Kinabalu when he passed away. He was 61.
Last year, Mahadzir was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of the University Malaya Medical Centre because of lung and kidney complications.
He started his career as an English and Bahasa Malaysia news reader at TV3 in 1984 and gained prominence after hosting several popular programme such as Sekapur Sirih, Malaysia Hari Ini (MHI) and Melodi.
Mahadzir’s ability to speak in France, Spanish, Italian and Portugese made him a popular choice as emcee for several presitgious international events.
He was awarded the Ordre Les Palmes Academiques by the French government in 2006 for his contribution in promoting the French language.
