SHAH ALAM — Sept. 12, 2019: Selangor has decided to close 29 schools to close Friday following the worsening air quality due to the haze, up from just five schools today.

The closure on Friday will affect 24 schools in Klang, including six secondary schools and five others in Kuala Langat.

The Selangor Education Department also reminded schools to close immediately if the Air Pollutant Index (API) reading goes over 200, in line with the recent announcement by the Education Ministry.

The closure today affected 10,100 students while the closure tomorrow will affect 45,265 students.

Earlier today three schools in Johan Setia, Klang, were ordered closed with immediate effect after the API exceeded 200.

The closure however will not affect the all types of examinations including public examinations and all the schools involved are advised to refer to the ministry’s circular. — Bernama
