GEORGETOWN — July 23, 2020: Three policemen from the Perak police headquarters were among 10 men detained in relation to an armed robbery of a money changer here last week.
Investigations started when the money changer reported that he had been robbed off RM100,000 after being stopped by four men in a car bearing the police logo.
He was threatened with a pistol and then taken to his business premises where the money in various currencies was taken. But police managed to recover part of the money from a suspect in Balik Pulau yesterday.
Also taken away by police were three cars and two police firearms.
State police chief Datuk Sahabudin Abd. Manan said today that two of the suspects are foreigners while another had a drug-related offence.
Police are looking for the rest of the cash and are also trying to locate a man believed to be the mastermind of the group.
