SHAH ALAM — Jan. 23, 2020: Three policemen have been charged with corruption involving RM22,500 while at the Petaling Jaya police headquarters as an inducement to release three foreign women in custody last year.
N. Ramesh, 52, faces charges of accepting RM9,000 and RM1,500 from one C. Kumar to release the women. The offences were said to have been committed on May 28 last year.
Ramesh, now with Batu Gajah police, was also jointly charged with Mohamad Syafiq Solah, 29, with accepting RM3,000 also from Kumar for the same purpose on 30. They were also charged with accepting another RM4,000 from Kumar on June 4.
Syafiq was additionally charged with accepting RM3,000 for himself from Kumar for the same purpose on June 3.
He is further jointly charged with Muizzudin Muhammad, 32, with accepting RM2,000 from Kumar on May 30.
