JOHOR BAHRU — March 15, 2019: The clean-up of Sungai Kim Kim has produced 350 jumbo bags of tainted earth and 350 tonnes of polluted water so far.
All the toxic substances collected since two days ago will be disposed at a disposal facility licensed by the Department of Environment.
“Work to clean-up the site is monitored 24 hours by the Fire and Rescue Department as well as the DOE,” state Health, Environment and Agriculture Committee chairman Dr. Sahruddin Jamal said at the Disaster Assistance Management Committee Operations Centre of the Pasir Gudang Municipal Council. Present was Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change Minister Yeo Bee Yin.
In relation to the toxic waste pollution, 73 patients who treated at Sultan Ismail Hospital and Sultanah Aminah Hospital were allowed to return home today.
