KUALA LUMPUR — July 17, 2020: Malaysians going for the annual pilgrimage will continue to be provided with subsidies.

This was confirmed by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in a parliamentary written reply yesterday to Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution (PKR-Kulim Bandar Baru).

The cost for a muassasah pilgrim is RM22,900 each while that for a muassasah performing the haj for the first time remains at RM9,980 each. This means Tabung Haji bears the additional cost of RM12,920 for each person.

News reports had speculated that Tabung Haji, which decided on a restructuring plan a few months ago, was planning to remove the subsidies from next year.

Muhyiddin also said that since there will be no haj this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, those who had paid Tabung Haji will be refunded.
