KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 29 2018 : Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali was not interrogated but a statement was taken from her professionally by police on Friday by giving respect to her position and status, regarding the gathering organised without prior notice in September last year.

Federal Police CID Director Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd drew attention that Dr Siti Hasmah had made a public statement that she had not faced any form of intimidation throughout the time her statement was recorded.

“The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM)  took a serious view of the statements that carried seditious elements made by quarters who tried to fish in troubled waters,” he said in a statement yesterday.

He said that Dr Siti Hasmah personally gave her cooperation in completing the police investigation.

Wan Ahmad Najmuddin stressed that it was part of the police investigation process and did not involve any form of pressure from any quarters.

On Sept 10 last year, a group of women activists was reported to have organised a gathering called ‘Wanita Bantah Politik Toksik’ (Women Oppose Toxic Politics) in the federal capital. Dr Siti Hasmah was reported to have given a short speech at the gathering. – Bernama
