SHAH ALAM — March 14, 2018: Seven Klang Municipal Council (MPK) enforcement officers were detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission yesterday for allegedly soliciting and receiving a bribe of RM1,000 from an unlicensed cybercafe operator in Klang.
One of the suspects however was released on an MACC bail after his statement was recorded today.
According to a source, on October 21 last year the council’s enforcement officers had carried out an inspection at the cybercafe and found that the premises did not have an entertainment licence.
However, the enforcement staff asked for and took RM1,000 from the operator so that no legal action would be taken against the premises.
Selangor MACC director Datuk Alias Salim confirmed the arrests and said the suspects were expected to be brought to a court in Klang tomorrow for the agency to request for a remand order. — Bernama
