PORT DICKSON — Sept. 29, 2018: The parliamentary by-election on October 13 has attracted seven candidates. Ther could have been eight but one candidate had his nomination rejected today.

The main reason for the by-election is to provide a back door for Pakatan Harapan candidate and PKR president-elect Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to re-enter parliament.

Also contesting are Anwar’s former aide Saiful Bukhari Azlan anf former Negri Sembilan mentri besar Tan Sri Mohd. Isa Samad. Both are independents, says Bernama.

The others are Lt. Col. (Rtd) Mohd. Nazari Mokhtar of PAS and three other independents — Lau Seck Yan, social media personality Stevie Chan and Kan Chee Yen. One A. Rajendra had his nomination rejected because his proposer was not a registered voter in the constituency.
