SHAH ALAM — May 29, 2020: The political secretary to the Selangor mentri besar has denied that there was a secret meeting yesterday between his boss and two Perikatan Nasional ministers.
According to Borhan Aman Shah, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari had only met with Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Adham Baba to discuss efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the state. The meeting was at Amirudin’s official residence here.
They also discussed the cooperation between the state government and the Ministry of Health (MOH) in adopting the post-conditional movement control order.
“The meeting was also attended by the state health committee chairman Dr. Siti Mariah Mahmud, MOH officers and state health department officers. So we refute the allegation of a secret meeting,” said Borhan.
A news portal reported that there was a secret political meeting between Amirudin and Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Azmin Ali and Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin.
It speculated that the Pakatan Harapan state government may be toppled soon as some PKR assemblymen who were Azmin’s supporters when he was the PKR deputy president would cross over to Perikatan.
Azmin’s official social media site has also dismissed the report, saying that he was in Kedah and Penang yesterday.
Selangor has 56 seats, with PKR holding 19, DAP (16), Parti Amanah Negara (eight), Pribumi Bersatu (five), Barisan Nasional (five), PAS (one), and Independent (two).
