The Eidul Adha or Festival of Sacrifice though celebrated with less exuberance (if compared with the Eidul Fitri) commemorates a very significant event in the Islamic history that laid the foundation of a value system to be observed by Muslims.
It exemplifies significant aspects of the philosophy of Islam, what it stands for and what it expects of its believers.
Simply put, sacrifices are expected of Muslims as demanded by the religion.
These sacrifices bind Muslims together; uniting the ummah in sharing the symbolic bounty of Allah in which the person offering the sacrifice needs a receiver – the poor and the needy – for the value system to be realised.
With these symbiotic relations placed in context – the Hari Raya Aidil Adha is celebrated.
The Mole wishes all Muslims and Malaysians Selamat Hari Raya Aidil Adha.
