KUALA LUMPUR — May 27, 2015: The second stage of the 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) payment will start tomorrow, involving 4.65 million recipients.
The payments also cover the appeals approved for 141,670 recipients, said Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah in a statement today.
As announced in the 2015 national budget, the government has decided to make BR1M payments for this year in three stages. The first payment was on January 15.
The payments will be made directly to the accounts of the respective recipients.
For those with no bank accounts, letters of approval will be sent to their homes. Payment can be redeemed at any Bank Simpanan Nasional,
Maybank, CIMB and Public Bank branch.
Husni said the government has also introduced the Death Benefit Scheme (SKK) which offers assistance of RM1,000 under the household and senior citizens categories to beneficiaries of the BR1M recipients who have died.
To date, more than 16,000 SKK claims have been approved.
Beneficiaries of BR1M recipients named in the BR1M application forms can make claims at any BSN branch by producing the death certificate as well as identity cards of the deceased.
