Sarawak DAP vice-chief quits party

KUALA LUMPUR, July 27 2020: Sarawak DAP vice-chairman Wong King Wei has quit the party with immediate effect.

He said in a statement today said he was disillusioned with the direction of the party and how it was being managed.

Wong said some actions of the party and its members caused him to lost his belief in DAP’s struggles such as the demand by its youth wing to contest the PKR’s Batu Lintang seat in the coming state elections.

The two-term assemblyman for Padungan said he will not seek a re-election to allow a new face to represent the constituents there.

He also criticised Michael Kong, a special assistant to Sarawak DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen for his “personal attacks” against prominent businessman Richard Wee.

Wong also stressed that he was not joining other political party as he wanted to focus on his legal practice and family.
