KUALA LUMPUR – March 25, 2015: The Integrated News Centre of Radio Televisyen Malaysia that was completed in June 2012 is not functioning as intended because it doesn’t have the equipment.

The seven-storey building that cost RM90.58 million now houses only administrative staff and needs a further RM126 million to procure the equipment.

Today after its second term committee meeting, Public Accounts Committee chairman Datuk Nur Jazlan referred to the November – December 2013 audit by the National Audit Department and expressed its shock that the contractor was given the nod to go ahead despite failing the technical evaluation.

“It was not until today that the secretary-general of the Ministry of Communication and Multimedia Datuk Seri Sharifah Zarah Syed Ahmad informed me that her ministry had requested the RM126 million,” said Nur Jazlan.

Apart from that Nur Jazlan made known that the PAC was not satisfied with the quality of the centre because with the money given, it should have done better.
