PUTRAJAYA — Aug. 30, 2019: The passenger service charge for international flights at all airports in Malaysia, except at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, will be reduced to RM50 from RM73 from October 1.

The rates for other sectors at all airports remain unchanged — at RM35 for Asean flights and RM11 for domestic flights.

In confirming this today, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the rate at KLIA remains at RM73 for international flights as KLIA is a premium airport.

Passengers who have made the PSC payment before Oct. 1 can claim for refund with the respective airlines.

Prior to this, low-cost carrier AirAsia had launched a petition in protest of the increase of RM23 from RM50 for passengers travelling beyond Asean.

AirAsia said klia2 was designed and operates as a low-cost carrier terminal and thus passengers should not have to pay the same rate as the more well-equipped and luxurious KLIA. — Bernama
