SHAH ALAM — Sept. 6, 2019: The prosecution will prove that Cradle Fund CEO Nazrin Hassan was murdered, based on the results of a second post-mortem and had no link with a fire in his house on June 14 last year.
According to the opening statement today by prosecutor Datuk Raja Rozela Raja Toran, the second post-mortem conducted three months after Nazrin’s death showed that he died from a blow by a blunt object on the head.
The trial is being heard before justice Datuk Ab. Karim Ab. Rahman.
Raja Rozela said evidence will indicate that Nazrin did not die in the fire but instead before it had occurred. The fire was deliberately started to hide the real cause of death.
Before his death, Nazrin was reported to be living with the first accused Samirah Muzaffar, two stepsons, another two children and Indonesian maid Eka Wahyu Lestari.
Samirah, Nazrin’s stepsons and Eka Wahyu Lestari who is still at large, are accused of murdering him.
After the fire was put out, firemen found Nazrin’s body on the floor of the bedroom. A post-mortem at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital found that he died from complications of blast and blunt penetrating injuries. — Bernama
