KUALA LUMPUR – Oct 7, 2015: A prominent blogger has called on Malaysians to vote for the extensive use of English language in the local educational system following a survey initiated by the Performance Management and Delivery Unit (Pemandu).

Syed Akbar Ali who blogs at ‘OutSyed The Box’, via his latest posting wrote “please vote for English at Pemandu’s opinion survey.”

In the survey, Pemandu has invited Malaysians to chip in their thoughts on the importance of English language proficiency.

In the introduction to the seven-question survey, Pemandu said it is seeking the anonymous views of Malaysians on the need for English fluency.

“The survey takes no more than a minute to complete. The survey is anonymous. No personal data will be captured.

“We also seek your support in increasing our outreach. Please forward the survey link to others who may be interested to participate.”

Among the queries contained in the survey are: “In your opinion, should some subjects in schools be taught in English to improve students’ proficiency in the language?” and

“How important do you think being proficient in English contributes to a student’s career?”

You can participate in the survey at: http://goo.gl/forms/u09WpY91mJ

The survey closes on Oct 11.
