SHAH ALAM, Nov 12 2016 : Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) has yet to decide whether it will join the opposition parties under Pakatan Harapan.
Its president, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said although PPBM agreed to join the opposition pact in principle, the party’s top leaders needed more time to discuss further on the matter.
He added that the delay in signing a mutual agreement with the DAP-PKR-Amanah pact, which was supposed to be inked today, did not mean PPBM wanted to back out.
“PPBM will hold a meeting to discuss about the (political) cooperation in one or two days’ time,” he said in his speech at Pakatan Harapan’s convention here today.
In the meantime, PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli and Amanah president Mohamad Sabu in their speeches at the convention had urged Muhyiddin to end the big question of whether or not to join the pact.
Meanwhile, PPBM chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the party would solve several matters first before joining the pact.
“There are several issues that need to be scrutinised before joining the pact,” he told reporters when met at the convention.
Asked on getting Pas into the Pakatan Harapan, the former prime minister said talks with the Islamic party’s leaders were still ongoing. – Bernama
