IPOH — November 27, 2016: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia’s intention to join the Pakatan Harapan opposition pact will most likely be decided next week.

This was disclosed here today not by the party itself but by Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) deputy president Salahuddin Ayub, who expects Pribumi Bersatu’s inclusion will strengthen the pact now comprising the DAP, PKR and Amanah.

He is hoping that Pakatan Harapan can hold its meeting as soon as possible so that the main agenda of Pribumi Bersatu’s membership could be decided.

Salahuddin met reporters after opening Amanah’s first annual convention here today.

He was commenting on a statement by Pribumi Bersatu chairman Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad on his party’s wish to join Pakatan Harapan.

Once this happens, Pakatan Harapan will register a symbol with the Registrar of Societies (RoS) to be used by the opposition in the next general election.

At an event in Penang, Salahuddin said the matter would be discussed at the Pakatan Harapan presidential council meeting.

“I am confident there will be no problem in accepting Pribumi Bersatu as part of the pact.”

He referred to Mahathir’s statement that the party did not want to join the pact as Pakatan Harapan plus but rather as being a real family member. — Bernama
