JOHOR BAHRU — April 17, 2018: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Pribumi Bersatu) today confirmed it is contesting in 10 parliamentary and 18 state seats in Johor in the general elections.
Party chairman Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad is expected to announce the names of the candidates in Pagoh on Thursday.
“The names are there but there is a small problem. I can say that (the list) is 99 per cent ready but we agreed just now not to announce it tonight.
“I can say that there are four women candidates, two Youths, seven former Umno veterans while the rest are new faces,” said Pribumi Bersatu secretary Datuk Osman Sapian after a meeting of the Johor sector.
The state seats to be contested are Machap, Sri Medan, Bukit Pasir, Benut, Kempas, Kahang, Semarang, Bukit Kepong, Tanjung Puteri, Gambir, Parit Raja, Buloh Kasap, Permas, Bukit Permai, Puteri Wangsa, Tenang, Panti and Endau but Osman didn’t reveal the names of the Parliamentary seats.
However Mahathir had earlier announced that Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman would contest in Muar.
This is the second time Pribumi Bersatu has postponed the announcement of it candidates after initially planning to do it last Sunday. — Bernama
