SHAH ALAM — Oct. 16, 2017: The Sultan of Selangor Sultan has consented to the decision by the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) to withdraw the accreditation of preacher Zamihan Mat Zin.
Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah decided on this after a discussion with the Selangor Council of the Royal Court today.
The decision follows a religious talk recently by Zamihan, the president of the Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah Malaysia Organisation, which contained racist, rude and extremely critical words against the Royal institution.
In addition, the talk was held at a mosque where religious talks like this should not be held, said secretary of the council, Hanafisah Jais, in a statement.
Hanafisah said the sultan also ordered that all mosque and surau management committees to make video recordings of talks and classes they organise.
This is for the purpose of monitoring the contents of the talks which should abide by the Accreditation Regulations (Selangor) and the Mosque and Surau Regulations (Selangor) 2017.
In addition, the sultan ordered that the use of loudspeakers for talks and classes be confined to the premises of mosques and surau. — Bernama
