SHAH ALAM — May 30, 2018: Police will file for a warrant of arrest against Sungai Besar Umno division chief Datuk Seri Jamal Md. Yunos, while intensifying the search for him.
Selangor Criminal Investigation chief SAC Fadzil Ahmat said he had given enough time for Jamal to cooperate with police but the latter had failed to respond accordingly.
In fact, he said Jamal had been flip-flopping in his statements via video clips he had posted on social media.
“The police have taken action in accordance with the law in handling cases involving Jamal.
“So far, there are six more cases to be investigated against Jamal, on top of three cases he was charged with at the Ampang Puteri Hospital on May 25,” Fadzil said in a statement today.
Attempts by reporters who waited outside the Ampang Jaya district police headquarters (IPD) for more than two hours to interview Jamal were futile after he did not show up to complete his bail process.
In a voice recording released to the media yesterday, Jamal stated that he would be present at the IPD today.
In a statement today, Jamal once again said he would go to the police station to complete the documentation process but he hoped the police would give him some time.
He also claimed that there was a plan by certain influential people to take him down under any circumstances although the police had assured him that he was only required to finish the documentation process.
“I am not denying the execution of the law against me. However, when my name was blacklisted by the Immigration Department and my name is in the police watchlist as though I am a dangerous person, according to information I got I will be arrested under an act where I cannot be released on bail.
“The way the law is treating me as though I am not a citizen whose rights are protected by the federal Constitution,” he said.
Also released to the media was a video featuring Jamal, clad in a T-shirt and black cap, in an unknown location inside an oil palm plantation.
Jamal was reported missing from the Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital on Friday after he was charged there with committing public nuisance at Bangunan Darul Ehsan in Shah Alam in October last year. — Bernama
