GEORGE TOWN, March 21 2018 : Police will call Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng to record his statement on a video showing him instigating children to hate  the federal government at a launch of a tuition programme in Jelutong , near here, last Saturday.

Penang police chief Datuk A.Thaiveegan said besides Lim, the police would also call several other individuals, including the complainants, to record their statements.

“The police will also request for a report from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to trace the owner of the social web account that viralled the video concerned to facilitate investigation,” he told a media conference here today.

He said so far, the police had recorded statements of three individuals to facilitate investigation of the case.

The police had received four reports on the alleged video, he said, adding that the reports were lodged by individuals and non-governmental organisations, including political parties.

“After we have completed the investigation papers, we will refer the matter to the Deputy Public Prosecutors’ Office for further action,” he said.

The 32-second video showed Lim teaching a group of children to sing a song condemning the Goods and Services Tax (GST). – Bernama
