JOHOR BAHARU, April 11 2016 : The police have received two reports related to social media abuse where false identities were used to link Tunku Mahkota of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.

Johor police chief, Datuk Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd said the first report was related to the creation of a Twitter account under the name of HRH Tunku Mahkota of Johor with his edited image and an upload of a sensitive statement made against a political party leadership.

“Another police report was related to a statement made by an imposter, insulting the country’s leaders via a Facebook account,” he said in a statement yesterday evening.

Wan Ahmad Najmuddin said investigations revealed the statements were not issued by the Tunku Mahkota of Johor and the case was investigated under Section 419 of the Penal Code for cheating by personation.

He said the Johor police were also working closely with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to track down the Twitter and Facebook account holders. – Bernama
