KUALA LUMPUR, May 13  2018 : Police today denied reports by several news portal which claimed that they raided a luxury apartment at Jalan Raja Chulan here yesterday allegedly following a report on luxury items belonging to the wife of a former prime minister being delivered there.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim said the police were investigating the claim on the raid, allegedly conducted following a report  by Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Youth yesterday.

“The police went to the location to check the footage of the closed circuit television camera there, It was not a raid.

“The reports by a foreign news agency and several portals are false and not true,’ he said when contacted by Bernama here.

Mazlan said the police had recorded statements from several auxiliary policemen at the apartment to facilitate investigation on a claim that about 50 Birkin handbags were delivered to the apartment by a van belonging the Prime Minister’s Department.

Mazlan said he would lodge a report on the fake news about the police raid at the apartment.

Yesterday, a foreign news agency reported that about 20 policemen conducted a raid at the apartment following a report lodged on the delivery of the bags there. – Bernama
