Police arrest 238 for MCO-related offences

PUTRAJAYA, July 29 2020: Police arrested 238 individuals yesterday for movement control order-related offences, including pub and nightclub activities.

Senior Minister for Security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said in a statement today that 42 of the arrested individuals were remanded while the remaining 196 were issued compounds.

He said the majority of the offences were related to non-compliance with the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Ismail Sabri also said that 1,755 checks were carried out on individuals undergoing home quarantine.

He added that checks by the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) on 28 construction sites found most were complying with the SOPs, except four, which were found not adhering to the guidelines,

A total of 3,503 construction sites have so far been found to be in compliance with the SOPs, 572 were given warnings and another 19 closed for non-compliance.
