Zahid suggests Mahathir seek audience with Agong if he wants an explanation

PUTRAJAYA — December 16, 2016: The cancellation of the invitation to Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad to last Tuesday’s oath-taking ceremony for the new Yang di-Pertuan Agong had nothing to do with the Prime Minister’s Office.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi clarified today that his check showed that the cancellation was done by Istana Negara.

“If not happy (with the decision) seek an audience (with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong) to get explanation. Don’t blame other people,” said Zahid to reporters after he had opened the Immigration Day celebration here.

Last December 7, a letter from the Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal which was sent to Mahathir to inform him of the withdrawal of an invitation to the ceremony was posted on the social media, leading to various speculations. — Bernama
