JOHOR BAHRU — April 12, 2017: PLUS Malaysia Berhad has advised highway users to be prepared for the fully electronic toll payment system at all toll plazas from April 26.

Implementation of the system on the East-Coast Expressway is being planned for October.

“No more cash transactions…. highway users must pay toll using PLUSMiles, Touch ‘n Go cards or SmartTAG,” general manager of operations Norbayati Manap told reporters at a briefing on the move here today.

The electronic collection system had been carried out in stages since 2008 in the north and south of Peninsular Malaysia, including the Federal Highway Route 2 at Batu Tiga and Sungai Rasau.

After the final phase on April 26, 71 toll plazas between Juru and Skudai will accept only electronic payments.

Currently, about 92 per cent of PLUS highway users pay toll using the electronic system.

Norbayati said the company spent more than RM3 million to increase consumer awareness on the implementation of the electronic system.

PLUS also expanded the provision of self-service kiosks for users to buy and reload cards including at Pagoh, Ayer Keroh, Dengkil, Simpang Pulai, Sungai Perak and Gunung Semanggol. — Bernama
