GEORGE TOWN — Sep.t 16, 2019: PKR vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin insists that her president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim should not reject the request from elected party officials for a meeting she considers to be the best avenue to resolve internal differences.
“(All) we want (is) just a meeting… We don’t want people to misjudge us for something we cannot say out to the public. We hope the president will agree to meet us,” Zuraida said after officiating the party annual meeting for the Bagan, Jelutong and Tanjung divisions here.
Her remarks is intended to clarify her absence from the last few PKR central leadership council meetings, which she feels are not the avenue to discuss any reconciliation attempt.
“I had a good reason not to attend the meetings. We should be given a chance to speak (directly to Anwar) on behalf of our supporters,” she said.
Zuraida would not rule out opposition parties taking advantage of the situation facing PKR now but was confident it would not affect the party’s position in the government.
She also poured cold water on the PAS-Umno charter signed last Saturday, which she said would not have much effect on the multi-racial PKR. — Bernama
