KUALA LUMPUR – December 12, 2019: Philip Morris Malaysia Sdn Bhd (PMM) has been certified as a Top Employer 2020 in Malaysia by the Top Employers Institute.

The Amsterdam-based institute, which was established 28 years ago is the global authority on recognising excellence in people practices.

Its chief executive officer David Plinks in a statement said in order for an organisation such as PMM to be recognised as a Top Employer, it has to prove that the implementation of its people strategies enriches the world of work of its employees.

“The certified participants are a shining example of a dedication to people practices as they continuously commit to empowering their employees for a better world of work,” said Plinks.

PMM people and culture director Chinmay Sharma said the tobacco company has always regarded its employees as its greatest asset.

“Our employees understand the work that we are doing towards a smoke-free future and how it is centered around making a positive impact on the lives of millions of smokers in Malaysia, their families and communities.

“Hence we have an obligation to provide them with the tools and development opportunities and foster the best possible environments for them in which to work and to excel,” he said.

Earlier this year, PMM was also recognised as the first equal-salary certified company in Malaysia. PMM pays its female and male employees equally for the same job or work of equal value.
