KUALA LUMPUR — April 3, 2014: The first floating liquefied natural gas facility from Petronas, PFLNG Satu, has achieved a milestone with the loading of its first cargo at the Kanowit gas field, offshore Miri, last Saturday.

The cargo was fully loaded onto the LNG carrier, Seri Camellia, which was expected to set sail for a South Asian market.

“This accomplishment effectively demonstrates Petronas’ proven technology and capability of adapting a conventionally land-based installation to a floating LNG facility, a game-changer in today’s LNG business landscape.

“It is a testimony of our innovative solutions to meet the demands of our global players,” said Petronas President/Group Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin, in a statement today.

“This successful first cargo milestone further bolsters our reputation as a reliable and leading global LNG player and one-stop LNG solutions provider.”

PFLNG Satu, manned by 145 crew, is designed for water depths of between 70 metres and 200 metres and possesses a processing capacity of 1.2 million tonnes per annum.

It complements Petronas’ global LNG portfolio, making it a leader in the FLNG technology and enhancing its reputation as a preferred and reliable LNG supplier. — Bernama
