KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 14 2018 : Petrosains Sdn Bhd, which runs Petronas’ fully-owned science discovery centre, Petrosains, has launched the Petrosains Science Festival 2018 starting today until Sept 16 at the Kuala Lumpur City Centre.
The annual festival, which is in its fifth edition this year, provides a unified platform where the public and private sectors, key industry players and academia work together to inspire and instil an appreciation and respect for science in the community.
Petrosains Chief Executive Officer Dr Tengku Nasariah Tengku Syed Ibrahim said this year’s theme, “Journey into the Future, One Discovery at a Time”, reflected centre’s spirit and aspiration to progress and move forward amid the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
“We hope to showcase some of the recent discoveries and inventions in the current and not too distant future.
“We are hoping that by bringing technology such as humanoids and robots, we can help visitors think and question about our future and whether machines will take over the role of human being in our lives,” she said in her welcoming remarks at the launch of the festival here, today.
Also present was Petronas Chairman Datuk Ahmad Nizam Salleh.
Tengku Nasariah said a total of 54 local and international partners are participating in the festival this year.
The festival will also feature other programmes such as talks, exhibits and technology centric activities on the topic of healthcare, education, communication and the future of environment. – Bernama
