KUALA LUMPUR — Nov. 20, 2017: Petronas unit, PRPC Refinery & Cracker Sdn. Bhd., has signed a contract with CTCI Corporation and MIE Industrial Sdn Bhd. for the second-phase of the fuel quality upgrading processing units at the Pengerang Integrated Complex.
Under the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) contract, CTCI Corporation and MIE Industrial will carry out the EPCC of the cracked naphta hydrotreating unit, ssomerisation unit, tertiary-armyl-methyl-ether etherification unit, four spherical tanks, one internal floating roof tank and related works for the production of Euro5 fuel at the complex.
A Petronas statement said the project development would take 23.5 months and the facilities were expected to be ready for start-up in the third quarter of 2019.
Petronas Senior Vice-President and Petronas Refinery and Petrochemical Corporation Sdn. Bhd. Chief Executive Officer Dr. Colin Wong Hee Huing said the Euro5 emission standard imposes strict caps on pollutant emissions for motor vehicles.
This results in improved air quality and general well-being of society at large.
