KOTA KINABALU, Dec 15 2017 : Petronas has reached out to 690 families affected by the floods in Kota Belud through its ‘Sentuhan Kasih’ programme.

It supplied essential items such as blankets, pillows, toiletries and hygiene kits to the flood victims currently sheltered at four evacuation centres at SMKA Tun Said, SK Pekan, SMK Taun Gusi 2, and Botung Sports Complex Hall.

Petronas volunteers comprising the multinational oil and gas corporation’s own workforce from its various operation units in Sabah as well as from its stations in Kota Belud were deployed to assist in the distribution of the aid.

“We hope that this contribution will help in the overall relief efforts in the district,” said its Sabah and Labuan chairman Mohd Zaini Mohd Yunus. Kota Belud district officer Abdul Gari Itam was on hand to receive the goods from him yesterday.

The Sentuhan Kasih programme was piloted by Petronas in 2005 and designed to drive the company’s efforts to reach out to those in need during festive seasons as well as disasters. – Bernama
