Petronas’ PIC project receives four ISO certifications from SIRIM

KUALA LUMPUR, July 30 2018 : Petronas Refinery and Petrochemical Corporation Sdn Bhd (PRPC) recently received four International Standard Organisation (ISO) certifications from SIRIM QAS International, for meeting internationally-recognised standards in executing the Pengerang Integrated Complex (PIC) project.

The certifications are ISO 18788:2015, which sets out a global business and risk management framework for the management of security operations; ISO 29993:2017 for the conformity to interactive oil, gas and petrochemical training programmes, as well as ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018, which emphasise compliance in health, safety and environment (HSE) management and supervision.

PRPC Senior Vice President and Chief Executive Officer Ir Dr Colin Wong Hee Huing in a statement here today said the achievements not only marked another milestone in the development of the PIC project but was also a testament to the company’s commitment to meet international standards in doing work.

“We are indeed honoured to be the first organisation in Malaysia to have received the ISO 18788:2015, ISO 29993:2017 and ISO 45001:2018,” he said.

The PIC houses a 300,000-barrel per day refinery and a petrochemical complex designed to produce premium differentiated and speciality chemicals.

Apart from supplying feedstock to the petrochemical complex, the refinery will also produce petroleum products for the domestic market and meet Malaysia’s Euro-5 legislative requirements.

It is supported by associated facilities including the Pengerang Cogeneration Plant, Regasification Terminal 2, Raw Water Supply Project, Air Separation Unit, Pengerang Deepwater Terminal, as well as centralised and shared utilities and facilities. – Bernama
